The Beginning
Surviving Bloomington launched it’s first game in the summer of 2018 when 16 friends played a game based off of the reality television show Survivor.
This group spent 48 hours competing in challenges, solving puzzles, enduring the elements, and went on an emotional roller coaster in the process of being forced to vote each other out of the game until there was only one person left.
Ultimately, Kassandra went on to win our first season with an incredible social game, multiple impressive Immunity Challenge wins, and being willing to make tough decisions in the end game. Kassandra won with a 5-2-0 vote in the finals.
What these players didn’t know at the time is that they were laying the groundwork for a yearly event that would raise awareness, empathy, and funds for people in Bloomington experiencing homelessness. Their passion and enthusiasm for the game encouraged the event creators to plan a second game a year later…
